Why do U-bend tubes require heat treatment?

The bending process naturally introduces cold-working stress into the metal, which significantly increases its susceptibility to Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC). To eliminate this risk, we perform specialized heat treatment—such as solution annealing or stress-relieving—specifically on the bent portion and its adjacent transition zones. This critical process successfully restores the metal’s original corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.

We are equipped to carry out heat treatment of bends plus a minimum 150mm of leg.

Heat Treatment Equipment

  • Heat treatment equipment is computer controlled with the added facility of data recording.
  • An argon protective atmopshere is used inside stainless and special alloy tubes during heat treatment.
  • We can provide all types of annealing; solution annealing and stress relieving.

Measurement, cutting, deburring, and cleaning:

  • The fabrication, processing, and measurement of the U-shaped elbows fully comply with relevant standards.
  • All pipes are cut to the specified length, the ends are chamfered, and the interior is cleaned with dry air.
