What is a Spiral Threaded Tube Heat Exchanger?

A spiral threaded tube heat exchanger is a new type of high-efficiency and energy-saving heat exchange equipment. Its design completely breaks through the traditional shell-and-tube heat exchanger design concept. From material selection to structural form and size, it represents a significant change compared to traditional shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Multiple technological innovations have enabled this heat exchanger to significantly surpass traditional shell-and-tube heat exchangers in both appearance and performance. It overcomes the characteristics of traditional heat exchangers, such as simple structure, large size, rough appearance, and low efficiency, making it a next-generation product replacing traditional heat exchangers.

Structure of a Spiral Threaded Tube Heat Exchanger

The spiral threaded tube heat exchanger consists of two parts: a core and a shell. The core mainly consists of heat exchange tubes, while the shell consists of a cylindrical body and end caps. Each end cap has two openings, and the centers of the openings on the same end cap are at a 90° angle, ensuring that the entire heat exchanger participates in heat exchange without dead zones.

Advantages of Spiral Threaded Tube Heat Exchangers

(I) High Thermal Efficiency, Saving Energy (Steam)

The unique internal reverse-winding, spiral-rising coil structure allows for counter-current heat exchange, ensuring complete condensation of steam within the heat exchange tube bundle. This eliminates the need for secondary heat exchange, resulting in significant steam savings.

(II) All-Stainless Steel Welded Construction, High Temperature and Pressure Resistance

The heat exchange tube bundle and shell of the spiral threaded tube heat exchanger are entirely made of stainless steel, possessing a uniform coefficient of expansion. It can withstand a maximum pressure of 1.6 MPa and a maximum temperature of 400℃, preventing deformation due to pressure and temperature instability. No de-cooling or de-pressure reducing devices are required.

(III) Compact Structure, Easy Installation, and Small Footprint

The spiral threaded tube heat exchanger’s small size saves on infrastructure investment; its lightweight design facilitates installation, allowing direct connection to pipelines and reducing installation costs.

(IV) Long Service Life of Spiral Threaded Tube Heat Exchangers

The spiral threaded tube heat exchanger utilizes the Owen turbulence vibration frequency criterion and employs a minimum clearance design for the heat exchange tube bundle, effectively eliminating turbulence vibration and extending the heat exchanger’s service life.

(V) Low Scaling Tendency and Low Maintenance Costs of Spiral Threaded Tube Heat Exchangers

The unique internal structure, unique surface treatment process, and counter-current heat exchange of the media on both sides of the spiral threaded tube heat exchanger improve the overall heat transfer coefficient while ensuring the heat exchanger has a self-cleaning function and a low tendency to scale. The heat exchanger can be cleaned using chemical descaling methods, which are time-saving, labor-saving, low-cost, and effective.

(VI) Energy Saving and Environmental Protection of Spiral Threaded Tube Heat Exchangers

In spiral threaded tube heat exchangers, the heat medium flows through the tubes, and the refrigerant flows through the shell, eliminating the need for shell insulation.

Technical Advantages of Spiral Threaded Tube Heat Exchangers

The domestic heat exchange equipment industry experiences slow technological updates and long product replacement cycles. Manufacturers generally invest less in R&D, resulting in widespread product imitation and significant product homogenization.

The biggest advantage of spiral threaded tube heat exchangers lies in their extremely high heat transfer coefficient, typically 2-3 times that of traditional shell-and-tube heat exchangers. They also offer excellent energy savings, achieving over 10% energy savings compared to traditional shell-and-tube heat exchangers.

The exterior of spiral threaded tube heat exchangers also departs from the rough appearance of traditional heat exchangers. From the shell to the flanges, the entire outer shell is made of stainless steel, and the surface is mirror-polished, greatly enhancing its aesthetics.

The advantages of spiral threaded tube heat exchangers also stem from their size and weight being only a fraction of tradition

al shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Installation no longer requires complex lifting tools and equipment and can be completed manually.

Tuttavia, due to the relatively high tube-side resistance, this heat exchanger is not suitable for low steam pressure and water/water heat exchange conditions.

Applications of Spiral Threaded Tube Heat Exchangers

Spiral threaded tube heat exchangers possess highly efficient heat exchange performance, performing exceptionally well in steam-to-water heat exchange. They are widely used in HVAC and domestic hot water systems, and also exhibit excellent performance in cryogenic systems. They have found widespread application in chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
