Finned Tube Air Cooler Heat Exchanger in Refinery
Finned Tube Air Cooler Heat Exchangers, also known as tube-fin air coolers, are a type of heat exchange equipment widely used in heat exchange.
The heat exchange element commonly used in Finned Tube Air Cooler Heat Exchangers is finned tubes. Common base tubes for finned tubes are seamless steel or stainless steel tubes, with common diameters of 25*2, 18*2, and 25*2.5. Common outer diameters for finned tubes include 38, 50, and 57.
The quality, material selection, manufacturing processes, and material specifications of the finned tubes are strictly in accordance with national standards. Finned Tube Air Coolers are generally used in two ways:
1. Cooling the air outside the tubes
A low-temperature medium is passed through the Finned Tube Air Cooler Heat Exchanger. The efficient heat transfer of the finned tubes cools the air, reducing the temperature of the air flowing through the cooler. The lowest air outlet temperature is related to the inlet temperature of the cooling medium (3-5°C higher than the cooling medium temperature).
Air and medium flow in countercurrent. This type of air cooler is primarily designed to cool condensed air. Materials can include steel-aluminum composite, stainless steel, and other materials.
2. Cooling the heat medium within the tube
A finned tube air cooler heat exchanger uses a high-temperature medium (such as hydraulic oil or hot water) to flow through the tubes. A fan forces air through the fins on the outside of the tubes, removing heat from the medium inside the tubes and lowering the medium’s temperature. The outlet temperature of the cooling medium is significantly affected by the ambient air, typically exceeding 5°C.
Finned tube air coolers can be categorized by material: stainless steel air coolers, finned tube air coolers, bimetallic air coolers, and steel-aluminum composite air coolers. By manufacturing process, they can be divided into wound fin air coolers and rolled fin air coolers, among others.
This type of air cooler has a wide range of applications because air is the cheapest cooling medium and is inexhaustible.
